Dear Friend in Christ,
On Saturday and Sunday October 8th and 9th 2005, EMMAUS LUTHERAN will celebrate the 115th Anniversary of the Congregation’s formation. We will also commemorate the 5th Anniversary of our Child and Care Facility. We plan on making it a special weekend of Prayer, Praise and Worship.
Beginning on Saturday October the 8th, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm we will host a Prayer Vigil that will include Songs of Praise and a Word from our Pastor, Clifford L. Bischoff. Following the Prayer Vigil we will have a coffee hour with desserts.
On Sunday at 9:30 am we will Worship the LORD with a very special Liturgy. Following the service we will host an R.S.V.P Dinner in the Parish Hall. The dinner will feature Guest Speakers and a Power Point presentation on EMMAUS LUTHERAN LUTHERAN’S past, present and future.
The congregation known as EMMAUS was formed on October 5, 1890 when 19 members of Zion, Cross, and Immanuel Lutheran Churches organized a new congregation, Emmaus! The work of the congregation was blessed from the beginning, key building projects included the first school in 1890, a large church in 1892, a new church in 1912 following the fire which destroyed the first one, a school addition in 1916, purchase of the parsonage in 1922, construction of the parish hall in 1938, major church renovation in 1950, school renovation in 1961, and the Child Care Center in 2000. Our church building is listed among the top 61 religious structures in the entire city of Milwaukee! We as a Congregation decided many years ago to remain here, in Milwaukee, on the corners of N 23rd St and W Hadley. With GOD’S help we have been able to accomplish many wonderful things, doing the Lord’s work in this special part of Milwaukee. Through the Church, School and Childcare we have been able to reach out to some of those most in need of GOD’S Word and Grace. We invite you to come and join us in this very special Celebration of 115 years of Ministry. Please find enclosed an R.S.V.P Invitation for the Sunday Dinner following the Liturgy. All events are free of charge and open to everyone. The Sunday Dinner is R.S.V.P so that we may plan accordingly. If you plan on attending the R.S.V.P Dinner, please return your Invitation in the Self Addressed Envelope by September 29th, 2005. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, YOU’RE FRIENDS AT EMMAUS
